SHOW AND TRAVEL CARE
Show and Travel Care
A health certificate and a current Coggins are required at each state crossing. Health certificates are issued to a horse by a veterinarian. The health certificate states that the horse was free of infectious disease at the time of the examination.
Health certificates are useable for at least 30 days after issue, but it is always good to check with a state’s Department of Agriculture to get their requirements. If you are traveling to a horse show, the show itself may have specific requirements. It is wise to check the show program or to call the show directly.
Please contact the Starwood Equine office to request a health certificate and schedule an appointment for the required examination. Health certificates should be required at least one week before the departure date. For the request form, you will need to have your Coggins information (if we did not draw the Coggins), destination information, departure dates, and hauler information.
Please note: A rush fee will apply to all health certificate requests received less than three business days before departure.
Piroplasmosis Testing: Certain states and showground now require a negative Piroplasmosis test for entry. You can learn more about Piroplasmosis here.
International Health Certificates: Request for this certificate must be received 2 weeks before departure.
