VETERINARY ASSISTANT OPPORTUNITY

In the field, employees will assist the veterinarian with procedures as needed and assist with daily maintenance of vehicle inventory. Employees are expected to maintain a professional communication style with both clients and veterinarians while at appointments. Field assistants must be capable of a large amount of physical activity as they will be physically active during examinations and when moving diagnostic equipment. 

Essential Functions the employee must be able to:
  • Frequently crouch in order to take radiographs, scrub wounds, and prepare for sterile procedures.
  • Assist doctors in maintaining supply stock on all vehicles. 
  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time during the drive between appointments, writing medical records, emailing clients, etc.
  • Work in all weather conditions.
  • Lunge a horse at the walk, trot, and canter. 
  • Frequently move up to 50lbs by moving diagnostic equipment (radiograph machine, gastroscopy unit, etc.) and manipulating horses (sedated horse head, legs, etc.)​
  • Confirm all necessary equipment and supplies for the day are packed on the truck. 
  • Provide service by maintaining superior cleanliness throughout the appointment and clean the work area prior to leaving a barn. 
  • Ensure all equipment is returned to the vehicle before leaving each appointment. 
  • Keep doctors on task and focused.
  • Maintain a positive attitude. 
  • Maintain communication with office and other staff members throughout the day.
  • Keep notes for future appointments, callbacks, and projects on Wunderlist and ezyVet.
  • Assist with office work as needed.
  • Update status of appointments in EzyVet, so the office is up to date in case of emergencies. 
*Registered Veterinary Employees are legally allowed to perform services individually under veterinary supervision. 
** Registered Veterinary Assistants are legally allowed to perform services under direct veterinary supervision. ​
Education requirements: RVT license (desired but not required), high school diploma, horse experience
Job Training: Please note that training will be conducted on-site with our Woodside team.

Our growing veterinary practice needs a reliable, organized Office Assistant to aid in managing the day-to-day administrative aspects of running the business. The successful applicant will be able to develop an open line of communication with clients, veterinarians, veterinary technicians/assistants and vendors. We’re looking for someone who can operate effectively with little or no supervision.  Most importantly, we want a compassionate individual who will care for our clients as much as we care for their horses!

Essential Functions the employee must be able to perform:
  • Exchange accurate information with veterinarians, veterinary technicians/assistants, and clients.
  • Frequently answer client inquiries regarding scheduling appointments, medication dosage, and billing, etc.
  • Problem solves and practice time management to promote productivity when problems arise.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the office, work vehicles, and equipment. 
  • Complete individual projects in a timely fashion. 
  • Answer emails and voicemail in a timely fashion. 
  • Maintain contact with the field team throughout the day. 
  • Prepare all required supplies for the next day’s appointments. 
  • Multitask and at times work in a quick-paced environment
  • Take initiative on tasks and projects to ensure there are no further actions necessary in order to complete a task 
  • Relay messages from clients/outside veterinarians to Starwood veterinarians in a timely matter
  • Ask questions/ask for help when necessary
Education Requirements: high school diploma, horse experience preferred, previous office experience is a plus but not required - willing to train the right candidate
Skill Requirements: Excel, Word, Cloud-Based Record Systems
Additional Requirements: Reliable transportation to the office, Professional attire in case of client interaction
