Veterinary Assistant/Technician Position
Starwood Equine is seeking a motivated, skilled Veterinary Assistant with extensive horse-handling experience to join our team. We are a full-service ambulatory veterinary practice with locations in Woodside, California, and the East Bay. Our team values professionalism, teamwork, and high-quality care, working closely with owners, riders, trainers, and veterinary specialists to optimize horse health, prevent injury, and maintain wellness.
Position Overview:Field Veterinary Assistants assist veterinarians during procedures, support workflow efficiency, and help maintain vehicle inventory. The position involves physical activity, including safely handling horses and moving equipment. Work occurs in varied environments and weather conditions.
Position Responsibilities:
Job Training: Some initial training may be conducted on-site with our Woodside team.
Compensation: $24/hr and up, based on experience.

Position Responsibilities:
- Support efficient progression of appointments and clinical tasks.
- Maintain a positive attitude and clear communication with office and field staff.
- Assist with office tasks as needed, including medical records and client communication.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout appointments and sanitize work areas before leaving each barn.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are returned to the vehicle and confirm daily packing.
- Assist doctors with inventory management for all vehicles.
- Frequently crouch for radiographs, wound care, and sterile preparation.
- Perform duties in all weather conditions.
- Extensive horse handling, including lunging horses at walk, trot, and canter.
- Frequently lift and maneuver equipment up to 50 lbs
- Remain stationary approximately 50% of the time during travel for documentation and communication.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions, including lifting and maneuvering equipment up to 50 lbs, handling horses safely, and remaining active during appointments.
- Work often involves standing, walking, crouching, and bending for extended periods, as well as performing duties in all weather conditions.
